Hello! My name is Joanna. I am a thirty-something year old wife and a mother to a precious little girl. She is the reason I started on my crochet adventure to begin with, as I wanted to make soft baby booties and blankets for her. When she was just bean in belly, I learned to crochet through youtube videos and right away I was hooked! I love designing and writing patterns, most of which I share for free on this website. I’m continuing to learn and grow as a crochet/fiber artist all the time. Join me in my crafty adventures!

Hi, I’m new at crocheting, I got lost on the mesh market bag instructions. Is this a flat or square piece? After the first 38 ch, do you turn or what? Help I really want to make this bag…..Talia
Hello,
This bag is worked in one piece in the round from the bottom up.
After your 3 SC in the last CH you will be working around the other side into the back of the CH. Think of it as making a long skinny oval shape.
Hope that helps!

I am having trouble reading the pattern for the easy peasy poncho. Do you have a pattern with pictures I’m more visual but love this poncho
Hello,
Do you mean you are having trouble seeing it, or understanding it? If there’s a certain part you need help with we can work it out I’m sure. Don’t have any tutorial photos on this one yet.
Understanding it
Ok where’s the first place you get hung up? Step #?
I got the chain 100 but confused about Being careful not to twist, join to first ch w/ sl st
Ch 1. Does that mean I make it a circle
Yup that’s exactly what that means. You’re going to join your long chain together to make it a circle. You’ll be working in the round.
Ok thanks I wasn’t sure cause it doesn’t look big enough to fit over head.
No problem. 100 should be plenty to fit over your head. It’ll trench a little too.
Hi!! I am an entrepreneurship student here in Philippines and we are required to put up a business. I’m planning to put up a crochet business and I would like to include finished products made from your vixen beanie pattern as one of our items if it’s okay with you. I plan to join bazaars too. Of course we would credit you as the designer. May i just ask if you will allow us to produce large amount of finished products made from your pattern so that we can include it in our bazaar and our soon to open online shop? Well my sister and I definitely can’t produce enough since we have limited time so if you will allow us, we will ask the community here in our country to help us produce using your pattern. We have five mothers there who are fond of crocheting and they are really great! In return for their skills, we pay them for every product they make. god bless!
Hello, Thank you for contacting me! Yes, feel free to make as many as you wish to sell at bazaars or online! If my pattern can help women support their families then that is wonderful. God bless!
I am working on the knit girl headband and am tapering back down but the pattern disappeared. I want to finish it!
Hi Brooke. I took it down because so many people told me there were errors. =( The chart image can still be found here: https://www.goddesscrochet.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/IMG_2747.jpg
Thank you so much! I am excited to finish this.
Hi Joanna,
I’m working on the keeping it classy infinity scarf that I found on the stitching Mama and I was wondering if you have a video tutorial for it? I have completed rows 1 through 3 but I am having trouble with understanding Row 4. I am planning to make the scarf by christmas. If you could please help me that would be great and very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Carina
I don’t have a video tutorial for that right now. If you’d like to email me at goddesscrochet@gmail.com and let me know what specific part you are having trouble with we can work through it I’m sure. Pictures help, too!
My baby girl is the reason I started crocheting too. I taught myself from YouTube videos, and now have progressed to crocheting from written patterns. I used your pattern for your crazy colored poncho and made my 3yr old baby girl a rainbow poncho. It turned out beautifully. Thanks! I would like to share a photo with you, but I don’t see an attachment link. Thanks again for your page! Kimberly
Aww. A new baby is the best reason to learn to crochet! I’d love to see a picture of your poncho! If you are on Ravelry you can share your picture there, or if not, feel free to email it to GoddessCrochet@gmail.com
Let me know if it’s alright to share your picture in my newsletter or not.
Happy hooking!
Where is the free Pattern for the Give-ME-Variety-tote Bag. I would very much like to get this pattern as I like the size and how the colors look w the variegated yarn. How do I find this pattern. Please help.

Hello! I was a newbie crochet last month. I have little struggled with rounds and rows. Until I saw your site like this, your video is helpful and clear to understand; however, you spoke too fast for me. I could not catch up with you because I am hearing impaired. Can you put the number on the pattern for example 1 1 1 and 2 for me? It would help me better. I have trouble to understand the reading patterns in rounds. Thank you! Have a great day!
Water bottle cover – how do I adjust pattern for a 32 oz. Metal cup? Really like this pattern. Base of metal cup is 3″, height is 8″. Thanks!! I’m relatively new to this😉😃
If you go up a hook that should do it. The holder stretches a bit too, so it’s very generous with the sizing. Let me know how it works out for you! Happy hooking!
Baby doll dress Row 8 how do you Join to first sc w/ sl st to form round
Put the hook in the first sc of the round, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. Hope that helps!
I am revieing the pattern for the Lacy Days Poncho and have a question about Row 11. It has the instructions to repeat from * to * but there is only one * in the instructions. 11. Sl st into ch-3 sp
Ch 2 (counts as dc)
(2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same ch-3 sp
Sc in next ch-3 sp
(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp
* Sc in next ch-3 sp
(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp
Rep from * to * around
Join to ch-2 w/ sl st
Can you tell me where the other * is?
You’re right, there is only one repeat on round 11, but further on down the pattern when it has you repeating round 11 it will make sense. For now, it’s just the one repeat. Hope that helps. Happy hooking!
I came across this pattern, the Easiest Shawl and thought it would look nice using Caron cakes yarn that is multicolor. I have started this a three trimester, and each time my two markers do not end up in the center. There are two more stitches on one side of the markers. Any thoughts?

Hmm, I know that sometimes my stitch markers will “jump” under yarnovers. Perhaps that is what is happening to you?
Dear Crochet Goddess, I have a crocheted blanket/throw, of which I do not know the pattern name. Is there a place where I can upload pictures and someone might be able to tell me the pattern name? I want to make the same pattern as a full bedspread.
If you are on Facebook, there is a group called “Crochet Addicts Uncensored” which is really good for this type of thing. If you upload a picture, most likely someone will know where to find the pattern.
I want to make your crocheted Raffia Wide Brim Hat. But I have a couple of questions. The pattern says to use a larger hook for Adult L/XL. Is that the only adjustment for size? And what is considered L/XL vs. S/M? Also the Premier Raffia descriptions that I am seeing, all say that the yarn is 100% synthetic even though the description of Raffia is that it is made from the leaves of raffia palms. Am I looking at the right thing? “Premier Home” raffia.
Hi Diane, I’ll try to answer your questions as best I can. The hat is pretty generous in sizing, the S/M should fit most adults. In addition to going up a hook size, you can always make more rows in the “body” of the hat before starting the brim to make it a little longer. S/M is approx. head circumference 23” and under. If you are looking at premier home raffia then that’s what you’ll need. You could “probably” do it with 2 strands of worsted cotton held together, but I have not tried it so I can’t give confirmation on that. Hope that helps! Happy hooking!
This is really cute. I’ll do it soon. Thanks. I also love your logo. It’d be an awesome tattoo.
I am looking for a pattern for a scarf that is built like a tube – open at both ends – that can hang long (double layer) or can be opened up widen the tube – for a cowl neck conversion scarf. I have one I purchased years ago, have never found one like it since and would like to make some more. How can I post a photo to show what it does.?
Wow that sounds really interesting! I’ve never seen a scarf like this…kind of sounds like a “Thneed”. Lol. Not sure how to make one. Perhaps you should share it on a crochet facebook group for input?
