Mossberry Cowl - Free Knitting Pattern

Every knitter needs to try knitting with super bulky yarn. You really do! The texture you can achieve is wonderful, and because the yarn is bigger, your project moves faster – especially useful when we find outselves 2 weeks out from Christmas with 10 gifts to make. This super bulky cowl is the perfect last minute gift item and it’s one that will actually get used, not thrown into the back of someone’s closet!

One of the cool things about this bulky cowl is it is reversible. There really is no right or wrong side, they both look the same.

I’m excited to offer two ways to make this cowl! The first is knitted in the round using circular needles, and the second is knit back and forth in rows also using circular needles. You might be able to squish the stitches onto a 16″ circular or your longest single points if that’s all you have in a size 11.

You may notice you will be casting on 2 more stitches for the flat cowl versus the one knit in the round. This is because we are using these stitches at each end as a selvedge stitch so we have some stitches to seam into, and they will kind of dissapear and get eaten up into seam.
