Are you ready to get your summer crocheting on? Maybe you are trying to get a head start on the holidays, or just had a precious baby born into the family. The Crochet World August 2018 Issue has you covered. Check out the array of great patterns:
It is blazing hot in New England right now, so there will be no blanket making in my immediate future! Cotton is my favorite summertime fiber, and a yarn of which I have an exorbitant amount. Because sales. Lol.
The pattern that stuck right out at me was the “V-stitch Basket”, designed by Jackie Daugherty. I am always up for crocheting something to help me organize! My local yarn shop did not have the specified yarn, so I used some premier home cotton I had on hand – some denim-looking worsted weight yarn. Unfortunately even though I had more than enough yardage than the pattern called for, I ran out of yarn midway through the handles. SO, definitely pick up an extra ball of cotton if you want it all to be the same color. It looks really nice with the handles a different color though, don’t you think?
After finishing the first basket I started wondering what the basket might look like if it were made with thread. SO, I broke out my tiny 1.5mm crochet hook and size 10 thread and went to town. Isn’t it adorable?
Although it would make a great beach bag for a Barbie doll, I put this little cutie in my bathroom, and made a set of face scrubbies to fit perfectly inside! It will be nice to not have to use a whole cloth to clean my face at the end of the night!

I love to crochet variety. I tend to make smaller amigurumi over the summer but I also have Afghans going. Right now I have 4 projects going.
I love to crochet lots of things, all year long! It is my relaxation.
I love making bags like this and I think the idea of using thread is adorable!
I love to make a variety of things, my latest was a photogahn for my sister-in-law who lost her husband in April after 46 yrs of marriage, it was the last photo they had taken together in February.
I love making amigurumi – especially ice cream cones in the summer 😊
Samantha, you’ve won the giveaway! An email was sent to you with info on how to claim your magazine. Congratulations!
I like making little dolls/animals for my kids.
I have been trying to crochet fly bonnets for my horse… I’m still too much of a newbie to feel confident in what I’m doing!
I absolutely love to make afghans for my niece and nephew’s Christmas presents! They get a new one every year. This year they’re going to get a matching pillow with their afghans!
Love to crochet small things, afghans in the winter
I’m still a newbie to crocheting. The time of year doesn’t really mean anything to me as I’m still trying to make hats and shawls. I’m also trying to make flowers 💐 too. I’ll have a try at anything as I can always rip it out and roll it back up again to try something else 😂
I love crocheting garments! Especially tops in the summer time. This summer I have crocheted several ponchos.
Right now I’m making some dolls for Christmas presents. I’m also working on several hats, also for Christmas. During the summer I prefer to work on smaller projects, just to darn hot. I’ll save making the afghans for fall and winter.
I like smaller projects…hats,scarves,wraps etc.
During the summer I make doilies and projects with cotton yarn. Summer tops and market bags. Need to stay cool in the heat.
I love to crochet wash cloths in the summertime. With cotton yarn.
Best of luck to everyone… Sorry not sure if I had commented before…🤩
