Baby Fisherman’s Hat – Free Knitting Pattern
Baby Fisherman’s Hat – Free Knitting Pattern
If there’s one thing fishermen (and women) are good at, it’s catching fish. But if there’s another thing they are good at, it’s knowing how to keep warm! Really, they have to keep warm. From what I’ve seen on “Deadliest Catch”, it’s brutal out there in the Behring Straight!
This hat is stretchy and squishy, with a long foldover to double up on the ear protection. If you live in a region that has snowy, windy days, it is a must to protect those tender little baby heads and ears from biting cold. Consider a superwash merino for an extra warm, non-scratchy wool option. A little more expensive, but worth it.
There are also the Caron Cakes, but I’m not sure they are soft enough for babies. The pretty pictured hat was made with Caron Baby Cakes which is awesome and soft, and apparently not around anymore because I can’t find it anywhere. Go figure. If you are donating hats or are unsure of any wool allergies, a soft worsted weight yarn like Red Heart Soft is a good choice.

Weave tail through live stitches and cinch to close hole.

So cute! I love fully ribbed beanies, especially for babies. I’m forever afraid that a hat will be too loose, lol.
