All knitters need a good go-to baby hat pattern. For charity, baby shower gifts, or for our own babies, it’s just an essential and timeless necessity. This particular hat is designed with light yarn (size 3) in mind. You probably have some baby yarn on hand, right? Leftovers from the last time you made baby booties, perhaps.

Any light (size 3) yarn will do for this project, just make sure it’s nice and soft for baby’s sensitive head! Prewashing the hat in a fragrance/dye free wash and dry cycle will help soften up any acrylic yarn. I used Lion Brand Ice Cream Yarn, and it’s really perfect for a hat like this. Easy stripes with no weaving in tails. It’s really soft, too, I highly recommend it.
