“A Wavy Shade of Winter” Super Scarf – Free Crochet Pattern
|“A Wavy Shade of Winter” Super Scarf – Free Crochet Pattern
Super Scarves have taken the world of crochet and knitting by storm – they are everywhere! If you are subscribed to any yarn company newsletters, you have undoubtedly seen the cozy inspiration delivered to your inbox. Somewhere in between a scarf and a wrap, this trending fashion accessory will keep you warm all season long.
What makes a super scarf so super? Well, the biggest reason is because it is super sized. Double the width and length of a normal sized scarf. Let’s just call it what it is, an excuse to walk around in a blanket. I get it, I live in New England. The winter is dark, cold, wet. People are generally not happy to be freezing. If you have to wait for a bus, or walk to school in the snow…it sucks. Even just the walk to the car when it’s 5 degrees out…*shudder*. Maybe, just maybe, the super scarf will warm you up enough that you can bear to be outside for more than 3 minutes at a time, and perhaps you’ll even be happy to be outside in the winter!

Thanks so much, that makes me smile. Happy hooking!
I love to make all your shawls
Why does everything have to be downloaded?? I don’t download anything. I never had this problem with LB free patterns until you changed the site. Now I can’t even find the free patterns. Maybe 20 but that is all, and there use to be hundreds. Are they still available and I don’t know what I am doing? Please advise me how I can get the free patterns without having to download everything. When I would find a pattern that I wanted I would just go to the print button and the pattern would print. Please tell me how to get the free patterns or if you no longer list all of the free patterns as before. Thank you. Nancy at njroulie56@aol.com.
Nothing has to be downloaded, just scroll down the page and you will see the pattern in its entirety.
Thank you very much. I didn’t see the instructions before. Nancy
You’re welcome. Happy hooking!
I’m fairly new to crochetingso I have a question on your wavy shade of winter scarf. After first sentence in parentheses it says 3 sk ch counts as chs. What is sk? It can’t be skip or is it
Hello,
I believe what you are referring to is the starting row, yes?
It reads:
1. Ch 59
2 dc in back bump of 4th ch from hook (3 sk chs count as dc)
So since we are going into the 4th chain from the hook, we’ll be skipping 3 chain stitches. Those 3 chain stitches will “count” as 1 double crochet stitch. Put a stitch marker in the top chain or the chain space, then you’ll have a reminder to make sure you work into that chain on the return row.
I hope that makes sense. Happy hooking!
how do you wrap the scarf as in the picture?
I started by wrapping around the waist, then kept wrapping up and around like an ace bandage, and tucked the last bit into me I fi the folds. It’s kind of like a blanket wrap!
