Cheeseburger Hat – Free Crochet Pattern Review
|Cheeseburger Hat – Free Crochet Pattern Review
This was a really fun project to work on. Not sure I’ll ever actually wear it, but I just couldn’t resist making it. Sometimes, just because you can, you really should! How could you be unhappy wearing a cheeseburger on your head?! Don’t think it’s possible.
The designer did say she is a tight crocheter and to check your gauge. Since I didn’t really care what size hat I came up with I did not check my gauge and just went with the size “J” hook as written. Perhaps I tend to crochet loose, but the hat ended up as an adult large/XL (it is written as a toddlers hat), so if you are looking to make this a child’s hat you should definitely go down at least one hook size.
There were a few tweaks I made to this awesome pattern. I wanted to make the lettuce look a little more real, so instead of using one color of green, I used two strands of lightweight yarn held together, one light green and one dark. Also, for the lettuce round 12 I changed it completely to mimic the look of real lettuce. Here’s what I did:
ALT round 12 (worked in the front loops only for entire round)

Finding the hat to be on the larger side, I stopped the hat one row short by omitting one of the last 3 half double crochet rounds.
Many thanks to Devin for sharing the pattern! It is available as a downloadable PDF and can be found here: Cheeseburger Hat – Free Crochet Pattern
Don’t forget to share pictures if you make the hat – designers love it. Happy hooking!
