Amigurumi Elephant – Free Crochet Pattern Review
|Elenora Elephant – Free Crochet Pattern Review
It’s become somewhat of a tradition for me to make little crocheted friends for my daughter on Easter and Christmas. Last Easter she received the “Dress Me Bunny”, and for Christmas, “Bullseye”, the horse from Toy Story – both are free crochet patterns. Crocheting dolls is NOT my favorite thing to do, and my daughter is pretty much the only person I will make them for. You crocheters who do amigurumi on a regular basis, I salute you! It’s not easy. Tight tension and a tiny hook means having to take breaks often, and sewing on limbs is always an adventure.
This cute little gal was adapted from a free crochet pattern “Elenora the Elephant” by Nancy Anderson for Red Heart Yarns. I was pleased at how little sewing was involved, since the elephant was worked from the top down, the only things that needed to be sewed on were the arms. Changing the eye expression and adding a tiny little backpack, my daughter immediately recognized her as “Elly” from the children’s show “Pocoyo”. She squealed when she saw it and it was the first thing she grabbed out of her Easter basket.
