“Transitional” wardrobe accessories are items that take you through the changing seasons, the in-between of late winter into spring, or fall into winter, and I’ve got a great “transitional” crochet pattern for you, the “Reef Ruffle Scarf.”
Temperatures will be warming up soon (hopefully), but in the meantime, keep the chill off your neck (and look fabulous while doing it) with this “Reef Ruffle” Scarf, a delightfully easy project. The length is completely customize-able, and it’s an opportunity to really have fun and add a pop of color to your outfits.

Free Crochet Pattern – “Reef Ruffle Scarf”
Supplies:
G Hook
Approximately 200 yards worsted weight yarn
NOTE: Worked in rows to reach desired length first, then in the round.
1. Ch 7
Sc in back bump of 2nd ch from hk and each st across (6 sc)
2. Ch 1
Turn
Sc in BL only of same st and next 5 st
3-?. Rep row 2 until scarf reaches desired lenth
4. Ch 1
Turn
3 sc in same st
Sc in next 4 st
3 sc in next/corner st
Rotate work
Sc evenly along side of scarf
3 sc in corner/first sc of bottom
Rotate work
Sc in next 4 st
3 sc in next/corner st
Rotate work
Sc evenly along side of scarf
Join to first sc w/ sl st
5. Ch 2 (does not count as st)
Dc in same st
5 dc in next/corner st
Rotate work
Dc in next 6 st
5 dc in corner st
Rotate work
Dc in each st across
5 dc in corner st
Rotate work
Dc in next 6 st
5 dc in corner st
Rotate work

Join to first dc w/ sl st
6. Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1)

:IF DESIRED, JOIN ACCENT COLOR WITH SL ST NOW:

Fasten off.
Weave in ends.

I saw the words “reef” and “ruffle” in the patterns listing on All Free Crochet and got really excited! I was so hoping for hyperbolic ruffles and the page loaded…. Beautiful scarf! I love the accent color on the edge of that gorgeous ruffle that IS just hyperbolic enough to be similar to a coral reef! I am so excited to make this!
