Pattern now includes video tutorial which you can find here: Crochet Video Tutorial – Mesh Water Bottle Holder
I recently went searching for a water bottle holder crochet pattern, but didn’t find one to my liking…so I wrote my own! It’s actually the very first pattern I’ve written. A nice simple pattern, and it works up quickly. Now…I have an 11-month old so I barely ever get uninterrupted crochet time, so I don’t know how long it takes exactly. An experienced crocheter could probably knock it out in an hour or less. That’s instant gratification basically!
Like I said, this is my first written pattern, and I haven’t had any testers yet other than myself. Please let me know if you see anything awry when you’re working the pattern up. Thanks!
EDITED TO ADD: Recently I made my first crochet chart! I thought it was fitting my first crochet chart should be for my first written pattern.
I use ch 2’s in the pattern to represent some dc’s, but if you know standing dc, DO use it!

Worsted Weight Yarn – I used cotton, approx 2oz.
Size H hook for a med-large bottle, Size G hook for small
Pattern Notes:
Each Ch 2 at the beginning of round counts as dc. I realize most patterns use a ch 3, but I feel it leaves too large of a gap. Feel free to use ch 3 throughout the pattern instead if you like.
End of each round is joined to top of ch 2 with sl st.
ch = Chain
sl st = Slip Stitch
st = Stitch
sk = Skip
sc = Single Crochet
dc = Double Crochet
BL = Back Loop
Rep = Repeat
1: Ch 3.
Sl st to first ch.
Ch 2. 11 dc into ring. (12 dc)
2: Ch 2.
Dc into same st as ch 2.
2 dc into each st around. (24 dc)
3: Ch 2.
2 dc into next st.
* 1 dc into next st, 2 dc into next st. *
Rep from * to * until end. (36 dc)
4: Ch 2
* dc into BL only of next st *
Rep from * to * until end.
5: Ch 2
* dc into next st. *
Rep from * to * until end.
6 – 14: Ch 4. Sk 1 st and dc into the next.
* Ch 1. Skip 1 st and dc into the next. *
Rep from * to * until 1 st remains
Ch 1
Sl st into Ch 3 of Ch 4 from beginning of round
15 & 16: ch 1 (Place stitch marker if needed)
Sc into same st as ch 1
Sc in each stitch around
Sl st into sc from beginning of round to join
Add more sc rows if desired
Strap: Ch 2
* dc into next 3 st, ch 2, turn *
Repeat from * to * until desired
strap length is reached.
Flatten bottle holder with
the strap in the middle.
Fold strap over to find the st you
will be going into on your “mirrored” side.
Sl st strap to mirrored side.
Sl st in each st around(including through the other
side of the strap) until you get back
to the beginning sl st.
Sl st into next ST and fasten off.
Weave in ends.
Happy hooking!

Love it! Our brains must be on similar wave lengths LOL as I just created a similar pattern a few weeks back to use for a display. It’s not exactly the same but is similar. 🙂

I made one this evening, thank you so much. 😀
Fantastic! If you have a picture I’d love to see it!
Thanks for the pattern. I was looking for something that looked cute and cushioned my glass bottles so they wouldn’t clink. Not sure how to add photo, otherwise I would post it here. 🙂
You are so welcome! If you are on Ravelry you can add a picture there, or feel free to email me the pic at goddesscrochet@gmail.com.
i have been trying to print out the pattern for the bottle water holder the meash and can’t seam to to get it can you help?
That’s odd. Are you printing from a desktop or tablet? With the PC you should be able to just hit Ctrl+p.
Oh I love this!!! I love the diagram included very helpful.
Thanks so much! Diagrams can be a bit of work but I love them. Happy hooking!
This was great and easy to follow. I’m still learning and this pattern was perfect for what I needed. Thank you.
So glad you liked it! Best of luck to you in your new hobby/addiction! =)
Thanks for the water bottle holder pattern. I must assume that each row is ended by a sl st to first dbl crochet. It doesn’t say on the second round but it seems logical unless this is a spiral pattern. Am I right? Please let me know or I will proceed with my own interpretation. I know we all make mistakes and I just want t clarify.
Yes, slip stitch to close each round. Happy hooking!
Just curious how many rows you made the strap for the one in the picture?
Gosh, it was a while ago and I don’t have that particular holder anymore, sorry. If you make it long enough so that when you fold it over, the bottle holder sits at your waistline you should be fine. It will stretch a bit when you are holding a heavy bottle of water, and if its too low you can always tie a knot in the top/shoulder part of the strap the way you would with a purse that’s too long. Happy hooking!
Thank you for sharing your pattern, it works up fast and looks really nice. The part I do not like doing is an extra long strap, which is necessary for an adult.
I’m glad you like it! Happy hooking!
