Washcloth Mitt – Free Crochet Pattern
Washcloth Mitt – Free Crochet Pattern
Want something quick and small to crochet in the summer (or anytime)? Washcloths fit the bill, and they are the perfect portable project, great to take with you while you travel! That’s why I am so excited Marie from Underground Crafter asked me to design a pattern for the CAL Central Crochet groups “2018 Washcloth Crochet Along”. From June 18th to August 27th, ten designers will be offering free washcloth crochet patterns. Crochet along as you have time, and share your pictures in our Facebook group so we can encourage one another. CAL Central Crochet Facebook Group
You can also share your pictures across social media by using the hashtags #CALCentral. But listen up, because here’s the important part…there are giveaways! Goodies will be randomly awarded at the end of the crochet along – and yes, one of the prizes is yarn.
Marie has all the details for you, so visit here: 2018 Washcloth Crochet-a-Long for all the dates and links to washcloth patterns. To enter the giveaway, scroll down down down until you see the images of all the washcloths so far, and underneath them is a blue button that reads “add your link”. THAT is where you add your finished washcloth picture to win prizes. So if you’re in it to win it, make sure to click it!
Is this not the prettiest cotton yarn you’ve ever seen?!
Cascade Ultra Pima Yarn
There is something wonderful about the simplicity of a washcloth, but I wanted to make something just a little different – a washcloth mitt! It has ribbing for a nice texture and extra “squish”. Aside from using this mitt in the shower or for washing dishes, you could totally use it to grab a hot pan out of the oven, or as a potholder – with both layers it’s nice and thick!
Please note the yarn weight is a 3 for this project. I would definitely consider doing a worsted weight pattern if people wanted one. Want one? Comment below.

Fasten Off.
Assembly:
1. With wide sides towards each other, whipstitch 2 halves together (leave the other two pieces separated). If you prefer another joining method like mattress stitch or single crocheting them together, go for it.
2. Decide which side you want to be RS (doesn’t matter)
With wrong sides facing together, lay the 2 small pieces over the large piece, lining them up together.
Pin together with stitch markers if needed.
With RS facing, join new yarn through both layers of mitt with sl st
Ch 1
Sc evenly around entire mitt, working through both layers to seam together.
Join to first sc w/ sl st
Fasten Off
Weave in ends.
You mentioned a worsted weight pattern above. I would like to get it. Do you have a link? I am using my stash of Sugar ‘n Cream cotton . Appreciate your creativity!
I have one in the works, should be live soon!
